How does Crisis Cover work?
Crisis Cover works seamlessly with
your day-to-day business and will leave you
safe in the knowledge that you and the people who depend on you are
protected.
We Keep In Contact With You
Once you’ve signed up and activated your account, we will remain in regular
contact with you – either pro-actively (e.g. by sending you emails) or in the
background (e.g. by checking your twitter activity). By automatically checking
your responses and online activity against the settings in your account, we can
decide when to trigger the ‘emergency plan’.
We Alert Your Clients
If you don’t respond to a consecutive number of checks, we will assume that
something critical has happened to
you, and depending on the choices you have made in your account setup,
we will contact each of your clients,
passing on the individual instructions you have left.
We Protect Your Data
Although you may be gone, we are aware that the information contained within
some of your instructions maybe very sensitive and as a result, these
instructions are not directly emailed. Instead the relevant people will receive
a message asking them to log into Crisis Cover using a special "Emergency Client
Code" that you supply to them when you setup your account. This ensures as far
as possible that the only people reading your instructions are the intended
recipients.
Until the emergency plan is triggered, your clients do not need to be made aware
about Crisis Cover’s existence unless you chose to tell them.
How will Crisis Cover check on me?
During these early stages, we have two methods of checking if you are still
around.
- By Email

-
Our email monitor sends automatic messages at an interval of your choice. Each message will ask you to click on a link to verify that nothing has happened to you.
- By Twitter

-
We can monitor your Twitter account for activity. We’ll check for new tweets at set intervals and if you’ve not Tweeted recently, we’ll check via email instead.
How will you check on me in the future?
We’re already working on other ways to keep in touch to make it even more useful
for you. If you have other ideas on how we might keep an eye out for you, drop
us an email at: covered@crisiscover.co.uk.
We’re already working on the following methods:
- SMS (text messages)
- Ways of phoning you
- Monitoring your Facebook account, website or blog (or infact any RSS feed) for new items
